Voter’s may request an absentee ballot for any election and you must request it each time you want to vote absentee. During the even numbered years, voter activist groups as well as the political parties and candidates’ campaigns may mail out absentee ballot request forms. You may get several of these or you may get none at all. You only need to mail in one request form for each election. If you don’t receive one in the mail from one of these groups and you want to vote by absentee please contact the Jasper County Auditor’s office and ask us to mail you an absentee ballot request form. Please fill the form out COMPLETELY! It is highly recommended that you add your telephone number in case we would have a question about the information you provided. You must select either Republican or Democrat so we know which ballot to send to you. If what you have selected is different from what your voter registration is, we will change your party affiliation to what you have selected on your form and mail you that ballot as well as a new voter registration card showing you are now registered with that party affiliation. If you want, you may change your party affiliation after the election is over. We will begin mailing out ballots on May 18. You may also vote absentee in the Jasper County Auditor’s office beginning on May 18. If you have requested an absentee ballot be mailed to you, please give it at least 3 days to arrive in your mailbox. Those ballots will be mailed out on May 18 and will hopefully be in your mailbox by May 20 or 21. If it doesn’t show up by May 23 please call us so we can re-issue you a ballot. The last day we are allowed to mail out a ballot for this election is May 23. Absentee voting will continue in the auditor’s office until the day before the election which is Monday, June 6. If you have questions please call the Jasper County Auditor’s office at 641-792-7016 Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm and ask for Tina or Dennis. Click here to see the Jasper County Candidates.
